Soft pillows offer plush, “sleeping on a cloud” comfort. They are characterized by less fill, meaning that the material inside is less dense and less firm. This allows your head to sink in and creates an ideal neck alignment for stomach sleepers. Extra soft pillows are usually thin or flat because less fill leads to lower loft, or height.
Soft pillows can be made from either down or down alternatives. Down pillows are typically filled with goose or duck down. Down alternative pillows are made from specialized polyester fill. Most pillows are surrounded by soft cotton fabric that is meant to be covered by a pillow case of your choice.
